Dr. Lance Rettig specializes in disorders of the hand, wrist and elbow and treats acute and chronic conditions of the upper extremity. Dr. Rettig also specializes in orthopedic sports medicine.
Dr. Rettig earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1997 and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Indiana University in 2002. He then performed a one-year hand surgery fellowship at the Raymond T. Curtis National Hand Center at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD from 2002-2003.
Dr. Rettig returned to Indianapolis in 2003 to join Reconstructive Hand to Shoulder of Indiana and Methodist Sports Medicine. He has served as an orthopedic consultant for the Indianapolis Colts since 2014. He has also served as an orthopedic consultant for Indiana State University since 2004 and is head team physician for North Central High School.
A native of Indianapolis, Dr. Rettig graduated from North Central High School where he played tennis. When he is not working, Dr. Rettig and his wife enjoy spending time with their three daughters. He also enjoys running, golf, and snow skiing.

Projects
1997 Assisted Thomas Klootwyk, M.D. Methodist Sports Medicine Center, in basic science research. Worked on a study to characterized the intrinsic cellular properties of the posterior cruciate ligament in a rabbit model.
