Dr. Katherine Blaire Egan is a fellowship - trained hand and peripheral nerve surgeon and a board - eligible plastic surgeon with specialized expertise in hand and upper extremity surgery. Her clinical interests include hand and wrist trauma, complex nerve injuries, and peripheral nerve decompression.
Dr. Egan earned her Bachelor of Science degree magna cum laude from the University of Oklahoma, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Following graduation, she spent two years conducting cardiovascular research at Baylor Heart and Vascular Hospital. She went on to attend Texas A&M College of Medicine, where she received her medical degree and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society.
She matched into the highly competitive integrated plastic surgery residency at Indiana University and completed six years of comprehensive surgical training. During her final year, she served as administrative chief resident. Dr. Egan then pursued an additional one - year, combined orthopedic and plastic surgery hand and peripheral nerve fellowship at Indiana University, further refining her skills in complex upper extremity and nerve reconstruction.
Dr. Egan is a candidate member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Egan enjoys running, English literature, baking, and country music.
